Set in the early 1900s, Mandie and the Secret Tunnel tells the story of a young girl whose life is changed after her father's unexpected death. Left with a self-absorbed sister and a mean mother, Mandie runs away to her uncle's mansion to escape her stepmother's malicious plans to hire her out for work. With the help of her father's Cherokee friends, she finally arrives at her wealthy uncle's mansion, only to learn that his ship was recently lost at sea. Taken in by her uncle's household staff, Mandie soon makes friends with the neighbors.
