A Beka Academy Traditional Parent-Directed Option

A Beka Academy Traditional Parent-Directed Option for homeschooling families is available for students in grades K5-6 and provides a blending of an accredited (FACCS and SACS CASI) distance learning option with a more traditional parent-directed homeschool program. The A Beka Academy Traditional Parent-Directed Option uses structured, print-based curriculum that was originally written for teachers in a Christian school setting. A Beka Book's Traditional Parent-Directed Program requires homeschoolers to follow a highly structured, parent-supervised program with all lessons taught by a parent. Teacher's guides include lesson plans that are often more suited to a classroom setting and may at times be difficult to adapt to homeschool situations.

The A Beka Traditional Parent-Directed Option provides all necessary textbooks, tests, and keys, as well as a parent manual with daily lessons plans that follow a 170-day school year. Students must meet age requirements and placement criterion to be enrolled. A Beka Academy provides progress reports for record keeping, evaluation of student work, a report card for each grading period, and one copy of the transcript. Parental responsibilities include assuring compliance with state laws, showing proof of previously completed work, providing supervision for all work, and sending in all required graded work in accordance with the provided academic calendar. Coursework must be completed within ten months of the assigned start date. All A Beka coursework is Bible-based and provides instruction from a Christian worldview. Science courses are strongly creation-based. Courses are available in all core subjects: Bible, English, mathematics, science, and history and geography. Electives are also available.

Finding Your Approach to Homeschooling

Wondering which distance learning program is right for your child? Keep in mind that there is no one perfect homeschool program. A blended approach to homeschooling allows parents the flexibility of using multiple resources instead of one set curriculum. Rather than feeling torn between curriculum formats, parents should be open to mixing and matching materials and resources to customize their child's education. Remember, each child has his own learning style, so it's important to choose materials that best fit his needs.

What Other Parents Are Saying:

"We have served as missionaries to the U.S. military in Germany for over 20 years and have had our kids in Alpha Omega Academy the last seven years. The Academy has done so much to make our lives easier, as we've sought to educate our children. All four of our kids have completed at least some of their education through AOA. To everyone, a big THANK YOU!"

Gib & Kathy W., Germany

"Both of our daughters completed their high school education through AOA. Alpha Omega Academy provided a quality education and counselors who were ready and willing to answer questions and give guidance. Finally, we were very satisfied with the college application process. AOA provided a professional transcript and made available a guidance counselor to send out transcripts, provide information for scholarships, and walk us through the graduation process. We are happy to report that the girls are getting a 3.9 and 4.0 at their university. We have recommended AOA again and again to friends and acquaintances and even strangers! Thank you, AOA!"

Sharon F., New York

"I just wanted to remain anonymous and let AOA know what a great job the staff has done with my child. We are truly blessed to have their help. AOA has proven itself time and again to be the best school we have attended. After trying several pricey private schools, believe me when I say, 'AOA is the best!'"

AOA Parent, Pennsylvania

"Through AOA my daughter gets a Bible-based education from an accredited academy. We now have the assurance of Christian studies supported by professional teachers. It's like a whole team is behind her encouraging her success."

Jerry G., South Dakota

"Hi, I'm Mitchel Musso, or as many know me, Oliver 'Smoken' Oken from Disney Channel's Hannah Montana. I want to say thank you to Alpha Omega Academy. They offer me a chance to work on the gifts and talents that God has given me by making it possible to balance the work on Hannah Montana and other acting and music jobs that I have with my academic schedule. I travel all over the world and can easily take my LIFEPACs with me. I work with different teachers on each new acting job and all of them seem to find that AOA is easy to work with. Thank you, Alpha Omega Academy, for helping my dream come true by allowing me the flexibility I need with my curriculum. I couldn't do it without you!"
